There’s a brand new episode of The Word Count Podcast available for your listening pleasure, and this time, the story prompt was this picture:
This time around, I came upon a story idea and thought I knew how I wanted it to end, but when I was writing it, actually in the final read-through before I recorded it for the podcast, the story tugged me in a new direction for the ending.
One of the things I love about writing for this podcast, is the freedom I feel when doing it. I can try new things, I can go with an idea that seems unsafe and unexpected, and just WRITE IT. I mean, I can do that all the time, but there’s something about the immediacy of writing a story for a monthly podcast, from a story prompt that feels so darn liberating.
Anyway, you can give the story a listen, and also listen to these fabulous stories:
- R. B. Wood – “The Traveler”
- Eden Baylee & Bill Kirton – “A Matter of Love and Death”
