Some small-ish self-publication news: later this year (probably in December or thereabouts), I’ll be self-publishing all my 2017 stories for the Word Count Podcast in Dark Flash 2.

I did the same with the eight stories I published on the podcast in 2016 (available from Amazon and Smashwords), and I thought I might as well make this into a series of sorts. All of these stories are available to listen to on the Word Count Podcast, and you can read them here on the site as well, but it is kind of fun to gather them all up and slap a fancy cover on them!
Included in Dark Flash 2:
- The Weight of the Sea
- Wolves & Girls
- Lost
- Magpies & Moonshine
- Hungry Beasts
- A Song for Hugo
- Deathlight
- Hidden
- Buried
- Angel’s Heart
Here’s the cover art in all its self-made, Canva-produced glory, and more details will be forthcoming!
I made the cover using Canva, and the artwork glimpsed in it is:
- a NASA photo of Mars: https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap140511.html
- an illustration by an anonymous artist, taken from The Traditional Faëry Tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, & Jack and the Beanstalk (1845)
- “The contemplative magpie” by Melchior d’Hondecoeter
- “An angel leading a soul into hell” by a follower of Hieronymus Bosch
